UOMO ARRESTATO PER AVER DISTRUTTO NEGOZIO DI MOBILI
Mi sono imbattuto in questo incredibile articolo pubblicato da "The Island Packet" di Bluffton Ohio.
L'articolo racconta di un uomo, Richard Francis Ulbrich, arrestato dalla polizia di BLUFFTON, per aver distruto un negozio di mobili dopo un disguido con il propietario.
Holly Dixon, propietaria del Timeless Interiors di Bluffton, afferma che l'uomo non ha voluto accettare uno store credit proposto come soluzione al suo ordine di mobili annullato prima del ritiro. Man is arrested for slashing furniture
BLUFFTON -- A disgruntled customer of a furniture business in greater Bluffton took out his revenge on numerous pieces of furniture in the store's showroom, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
Apparently he did it because the business would only give him store credit -- not his money back -- on a credenza he had special-ordered but no longer wanted, the store's owner says.
Richard Francis Ulbrich, 55, of 144 Good Hope Road in greater Bluffton, was arrested at his home Thursday night on a charge of malicious injury to personal property.
The arrest stems from an incident at Timeless Interiors, 1204 Fording Island Road, on May 9 during which the Sheriff's Office claims that Ulbrich cut leather and upholstered sofas and chairs with a box cutter.
Ulbrich's bond was set at $25,000, but he was released from the Beaufort County Detention Center on his own recognizance the night of his arrest. He could not be reached for comment Friday.
Holly Dixon, owner of the design and furniture firm, said Ulbrich carried out the crime in a nonchalant way.
She says he came into the store and pretended to check out various pieces of furniture, which later were found to be cut. About a dozen items were damaged to the tune of about $15,000.
And that's just one incident, according to Dixon and the Sheriff's Office. The store owner said Ulbrich damaged several wooden furniture items with a tool resembling a screw driver between March 25 and 27.
She said he gouged six- to eight-inch strips that were about one- quarter-inch deep in the items. Dixon estimated the damage to be about $40,000.
The store owner also said that Ulbrich stole three bar stools, bedding and other items valued at a total of $3,000 from a home she furnished in Berkeley Hall.
The Sheriff's Office is investigating both the gouging and the bar-stool theft. No charges have been filed for those crimes, Staff Sgt. Michael Riley said.
Dixon said her store has a policy that it cannot give money back on specially ordered items, only store credit.
"I'm absolutely flabbergasted," she said. "I can't believe any human being can draw that as a response to something like this -- that that's his response to getting store credit."
